The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is arguably one of the most long-awaited catwalks every single year. The build-up to the casting and the show day itself is done right. But over the past few years, we have seen a surge of influencers being cast for the show, which has sparked a lot of controversy.

This year we have seen the return of the iconic Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Elsa Hosk, who are no strangers to this runway.  Alongside them, to no surprise, are the ethereal Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio. These women are pretty much a part of the VS furniture at this point, with Adriana Lima walking her 21st show this year. These women often launched their careers on this platform as VS angels; for instance, Adriana Lima was only 17 when she walked her first Victoria's Secret runway in 1999.

This year it’s safe to say we were all absolutely SPEECHLESS and SHOCKED to see the King Kylie Jenner walk onto the runway in the fantasy bra nonetheless. This year it was valued at an estimated $50 million!! ( the most expensive fantasy bra to date).  Yet many spectators across social media have questioned whether Kylie Jenner is really “worthy” of this item, especially considering this is the first time it is being seen on the runway since 2018, and is usually worn by established VS angels, not big-time entrepreneurs.

The fantasy bra is the most iconic piece of lingerie ever worn by anyone -at least in my opinion. Each bra is encrusted with thousands of highly valuable stones such as diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires. Over the years, we have seen this being worn by Gisele Bündchen, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Jasmine Tookes and many more.

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has begun to showcase a PINK segment, with this integration beginning in 2006. The purpose of this is to showcase the casual and youthful intimate wear, known for its playful, energetic style. The segment often functions as a debut platform for newer or upcoming models before they transition onto the main event itself. Over the past few years, we have seen this segment being walked by famous influencers. For example, Gabriela Moura and Quen Blackwell who have now walked their second PINK segment this year.

However, renowned models Romee Strijd and Frida Aasen, both former VS Angels, were reportedly rejected from walking in this year’s show. This sparked controversy and backlash across social media, with debate over whether influencers should be given precedence over these iconic supermodels. But there’s one thing not to forget: beauty standards have evolved.

There isn’t just “one” body type or “one” racial type; women from all walks of life deserve to be appreciated and valued. Without influencers like Gabriela Moura, a Latina woman, and Quen Blackwell, a Black woman, this broader representation might not be as visible. More than anything, these women have an astounding online presence and connect with an audience that may differ from those of some previous VS Angels. For me, I’d love to see women with hidden disabilities and chronic illnesses represented more at major fashion shows, especially since I’m part of this community.

Another part of the show to discuss is the performances. This year we had Megan Thee Stallion, Tate McRae, Katseye, and Megan Moroney. All of these women showcased different genres of music from pop to country to rap, really celebrating the diversity of music and of women.

Lastly, this year we have seen the supportive role of models’ partners, from Dylan Sprouse’s well-known standing ovation towards wife, Barbara Palvin Sprouse ( who walked the show just six weeks postpartum) , and Timothee Chalamet’s proud boyfriend moment when Kylie Jenner stepped onto the VS runway for the very first time. These moments added a personal and heartwarming dimension to the show, reminding audiences that behind the glamour, confidence and spectacle of the runway are relationships built on encouragement and mutual support. Their presence in the audience highlighted how the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has evolved beyond simply celebrating fashion and beauty, becoming a cultural event where personal milestones and celebrity relationships are just as captivating as the collections themselves. In an industry often associated with competition and high-pressure expectations, these public displays of affection offered a refreshing reminder that success can be celebrated both individually and alongside the people who stand behind you. Ultimately, the partners’ reactions became memorable moments in their own right, capturing the excitement and emotion that made this year’s show about more than just the runway.

With all of this being said, this year's Victoria's Secret Show definitely met my expectations and had me completely astonished!
